The Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio (ULGSO) was founded to uplift and advocate for Black and underserved people. With humble beginnings in the 1940s, we have served more than one million African Americans in our community. Our areas of focus are Financial Empowerment and Community Leadership. In 2020 we served over 30,000 community members, in 2021 that impact will spread to well over 40,000.
Established in 1949, ULGSO’s mission is to transform generations by promoting personal empowerment and economic self-sufficiency. ULGSO visualizes vibrant communities with thriving individuals, families, and businesses. For over 70 years, ULGSO has worked to eliminate barriers of racism for African Americans. Our program priorities include : workforce development & Youth leadership development ; business development & entrepreneurship; health education and social determinates of health; community advocacy & social justice.
